Third Source Funding
Third Source Funding, or TSF, began at Our Lady of Lourdes School during the 1995-1996 school year. It is a very worthwhile and relatively easy way to sponsor social, service, and fundraising events with the purpose of offsetting tuition costs. The TSF activities and events will continue through this year with the hope that they will be as successful as they have been during past years.
Families are asked to volunteer for various events sponsored at Our Lady of Lourdes School. Each family is asked to donate a total of fifteen (15) hours of time during the school year, helping with one or more of the fundraising, social, or service events. The hours can come from one project or be a combination of two or more activities. Some families might find that this time commitment can not be met, so there is a buy-out option of $150 per child per year in addition to tuition to meet this need.
Information regarding TSF hours and ways to earn them is sent home through the brown envelope system. All families will receive information how people can help, how to sign up, and who to contact if you have questions. Volunteering is a great way to meet other parents and become active in our school. Parents and students can earn hours for their immediate family. If there is a need to extend this to other members of your family, or if there are extenuating circumstances that come up and you cannot complete your commitment, please contact the school office to see if arrangements can be made to accommodate your needs.
Families will earn credits toward the fifteen-hour commitment in thirty or sixty minute increments. Parents will receive a volunteer sheet and are asked to keep track of all hours. The information is provided to the TSF coordinator at the end of the event or quarter (whichever is easiest) who will log the hours and keep a running total. It is the responsibility of the worker to turn in the volunteer sheet. Volunteer sheets may be returned to the school office and we will send them to the coordinator for you. Families will be notified of the total hours donated periodically during the school year. If families cannot complete the hourly requirement, a fee of $10 per hour per child will be charged for unworked hours.
The events and activities listed are a guide for families to see how they can earn hours toward their TSF commitment. The list includes some activities and events that do not bring money directly to our accounts, but do offer services for which we would need to pay individuals if volunteers were not available. Families can check with the school office to see if their volunteer activities would fit into this category. Some things, such as chaperoning field trips or helping in the classroom do not count as TSF hours.
TSF hours worked between June 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011 count for the 2010-2011 school year.
