Dress Code
Dress Code policy covers grades K-8.
Blouses and Shirts
All students may wear solid-colored white, navy or red long or short sleeved shirts and blouses. Blouses and shirts must be a button down collar or a turtleneck or mock turtleneck. Our Lady of Lourdes School logo polo shirts may also be worn. T-shirts are not acceptable. All single layered, straight bottom shirts are allowed to be untucked. (Shirts are required to be tucked for school Mass.) No printed T-shirts should be visible through shirts and blouses. Underclothing, with the exception of white T shirts for boys, underneath the collar only, should not be exposed or showing. Shirts and blouses should not be too baggy or tight fitting.
Pants
Pants should be solid-colored in navy or khaki. No blues jeans, sweatpants, stirrups, nylon jogging type pants, bunjy pants, form-fitting stretch pants, side-pocket pants, oversized baggy pants or cargo pants are allowed. Shorts may be worn as part of the uniform, but must adhere to the same guidelines as slacks. Length of the shorts should be appropriate for school attire (no shorter than 4 inches above the knee).
Jumpers and Skirts
Kindergarten through fourth grade girls may wear the uniform plaid or navy jumper. Sixth through eighth grade girls may wear the uniform plaid, navy or khaki skirt. Fifth grade is a transition year; either the plaid/navy jumper or plaid/navy/khaki skirt is acceptable. All girls may wear the navy or khaki split skirt. The length of skirts, split skirts and jumpers should be no shorter than the top of the knee.
Sweaters
Students may wear solid-colored navy, red or white sweaters. Sweaters or sweater vests may be cardigan or slipover style with crew-necks, V-necks or turtlenecks. Only Our Lady of Lourdes sweatshirts may be worn as part of the uniform.
Socks
Socks must be worn at all times and must be at least high enough to cover the ankle. Socks must be solid-colored. Girls may wear solid colored tights with feet only.
Shoes
Leather or tennis shoes may be worn. Tie-shoes must be kept tied. For safety reasons, only shoes that enclose the entire foot are permitted.
Hair
Students are expected to maintain clean, well-groomed hair that does not obstruct their vision in any way.
Makeup
Minimum make-up in good taste is acceptable for eighth graders only.
Jewelry
Visible body piercing is not permitted, except for button or post earrings worn by female students. For safety reasons, no hoop or dangling earrings are permitted.
Tattoos
No visible body tattoos are permitted.
Other Uniforms
Scout uniforms may be worn on the day of meetings.
